The project was funded by the initiative “ENERGO-PRO for society”

On March 9 in the building of the primary school “Nikola Ikonomov” in the city of Razgrad representatives of ENERGO-PRO and the school presented another project implemented within the “ENERGO-PRO for Society” initiative. At the heart of the idea of the Razgrad school is the enrichment of the classrooms in Physics, Biology, Man and Nature, betting on a new teaching method — STEM. STEM education is a curriculum based on education in four specific areas — Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics through applied and interdisciplinary methods. The goal is to integrate these areas into a common curriculum with real-world applications outside the classroom, rather than teaching separate, abstract learning subjects. Students from the primary school demonstrated to the guests of the event real experiments and scientific experiments carried out with the new materials purchased with the funds provided by ENERGO-PRO.

“Thanks to the cooperation of our partners from ENERGO-PRO and their initiative in support of regional communities, we have provided more than 300 children from grades 4 to 7 who are trained in our school with a modern method of learning. The STEM framework not only teaches students how to think critically, solve problems, and use creativity, it prepares students to work in areas that are ready for growth. We are glad that together with ENERGO-PRO we provided our children with an additional opportunity to develop key skills, such as creative thinking, critical analysis, teamwork, initiative through an innovative approach to learning”, said Mr. Dimitar Petrov, Director of the Primary School “Nikola Ikonomov”.

“Our initiative was launched in September last year with the idea of supporting local communities in the realization of projects for sustainable development and well-being of various community groups. Several projects have already received funding from “ENERGO-PRO for society”, with priority being given to those that are innovative in nature and have a long-term effect on changing public attitudes”, commented Mr. Atanas Kolev, Chairman of the Management Board of ERP North, the electricity distribution company of the ENERGO-PRO group. “I believe that we will set a positive example for other companies that, despite the difficult economic situation, strive for change in the public environment,” he added.

Beneficiaries in the initiative “ENERGO-PRO for society” can be kindergartens, schools, universities and municipalities throughout the country. The maximum funding that a project can earn is BGN 5,000. Detailed information as well as application form are available at https://www.energo-pro.bg/bg/energo-pro-za-obshtestvoto.
