ENERGO-PRO with an award for responsible business
The company won third place in the category “Investor in Human Capital and Working Conditions” at the Annual Awards for Responsible Business at the Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum
On February 25, 2014, at an official ceremony, the Annual Awards for Responsible Business, organized by the Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum for the 11th consecutive year in Sofia, were presented. ENERGO-PRO was awarded the third prize in the category “Investor in human capital and working conditions” with its project “Fund for the treatment of employees of the companies of the ENERGO-PRO Varna EOOD group”. The award was personally accepted by the manager of ENERGO-PRO, Mr. Stefan Abadzhiev. This year, a record number (56) international and Bulgarian companies from all over the country competed in the most prestigious competition for corporate social responsibility in 6 categories, and only in the category “Investor in human capital and working conditions” the participants were 9. The jury in the 11th edition of the competition traditionally consisted of authoritative and respected experts from various institutions with a commitment to socially responsible causes in support of society. Among the members of the jury were Mrs. Yordanka Fandakova (Chairman), Mr. Hasan Ademov, Minister of Labour and Social Policy, the Ambassador of Great Britain to Bulgaria, etc.
“Investing in human capital is the most important, most valuable investment. It is a guarantee of competitiveness and ultimately for companies to contribute with their activities to a higher standard of living “, said Mr. Hasan Ademov in his address to the attendees of the ceremony.
The ENERGO-PRO project “Group Employee Treatment Fund” won a worthy prize in competition with one of the largest companies in Bulgaria. The fund was established at the end of May 2013 in order to financially and morally support the company's employees and their families in need of treatment in the country or abroad.
The idea of creating such a fund arose spontaneously in the course of one of the successive campaigns that employees organize to support the treatment of their colleague suffering from a serious illness. As is often the case in such situations, despite the employees' act of empathy and efforts to help their counterpart, the funds raised prove insufficient for expensive treatment abroad.
In recent years, cases of serious illnesses requiring expensive medication or treatment abroad have become more frequent and very often such treatment proves to be overwhelming for the families of the victims. The ENERGO-PRO treatment fund was created precisely in order to support employees who are in such need. The budget of the Treatment Fund is formed by the voluntary participation of employees and the employer. A Management Board was established, formed by representatives of employees and management. In the internal online network of the company, an information section has been developed to ensure complete transparency in the management of funds.
By the end of 2013, 8 people in need have been assisted. The funds provided by the Fund were used to purchase medical supplies and implants in surgery to pay for expensive hospital treatment in the country and abroad, which is not covered by the National Health Insurance Fund.
