The initiative is part of the “Energy Transparency” campaign

ENERGO-PRO explains “Where does your electricity money go?” in an information flyer. It contains detailed information about the payments that the company makes after the payment of electricity bills by customers. The information shows the “path” that the money of ENERGO-PRO's household customers travels after paying their electricity bills.

The initiative is another step in the “Energo-Transparency” campaign, which aims to acquaint customers with key topics related to the company's activities. The campaign includes a series of information materials on topics related to customer service — the formation of electricity bills, tips on how to make their consumption more efficient, how to act in different situations - for example, if they notice a malfunction of the meter or tariff switch and others.

“Our desire is for the way in which electricity prices are set to be transparent and understood by the public,” said Stefan Abadzhiev, a member of the Management Board of ENERGO-PRO. “There is a false impression in society that the money from the electricity bills remains in the electricity distribution companies. The truth is that, being at the end of the chain of production - transmission - distribution and supply of electricity, electricity distribution companies are the “coffers” of the entire electricity system in the country. With this initiative, we want to explain to our customers that 92% of their money only “passes” through our company and is transferred to other participants in the energy system,” added Mr. Abadzhiev.

The flyer looks at a specific example — from an account in the amount of BGN 100 paid to the company's cash desks, only BGN 7.63 remains in ENERGO-PRO. With these funds, the company must build and maintain medium and low voltage networks, organize emergency teams, maintain customer service centers and a 24-hour telephone center, and generally carry out its electricity distribution and supply activities. The remaining 92.37 BGN is transferred to other energy companies and the state.

Another important fact is that at the electricity prices set by the State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (DCEVR), for each amount contributed by domestic customers (households) in the amount of BGN 100, ENERGO-PRO Sales pays BGN 105.34 to the other energy enterprises back in the chain and to the state. Thus, the company is obliged by DKEVR to lose BGN 5.34 for every BGN 100 of electricity sold to households and to cover these losses from the higher price for business customers. Thus, domestic customers are subsidized at the expense of the business.

The flyer “Where does your electricity money go?” will be available at customer service centers, at EasyPay partner offices and on the company's website. The information will also be sent personally to domestic customers who have specified a contact email address.
