ENERGO-PRO Sales, with the assistance of the Institute of Energy Management, organizes ENERGO-Professional Conference on the topic: “Liberalization of the electricity market — challenges, changes and opportunities” today, November 14, 2012, in Varna. With this forum, the electricity company aims to familiarize its business customers with the legal changes related to the electricity market in the country and to initiate a discussion on current issues. Tomorrow the edition of the conference will be held in the city of Ruse, and at a later stage in all other regional cities, on the territory of which ENERGO-PRO operates. Guest speakers at the conference are Ivanka Dilovska — Chairman of the Management Board of the Institute for Energy Management, Viktoria Popovska — Head of Electricity Market at Electricity System Operator and Konstantin Delisivkov — Executive Director of the Bulgarian Federation of Industrial Energy Consumers. The event was attended by more than 120 representatives of large and medium-sized businesses, as well as representatives of local government and energy experts.
Liberalization of the energy market in Bulgaria leads to dynamic changes and challenges for businesses and knowledge of current market conditions is an advantage for making effective decisions. “In the conditions of the changing market environment, free market participants must constantly react to changes in the regulatory base and look for the best solutions for themselves in order to adapt effectively to it,” said Mrs. Ivanka Dilovska - Chairman of the Management Board of the Institute for Energy Management. Through the conference ENERGO-PRO Sales, with the assistance of the Institute for Energy Management, provides an opportunity for active communication and exchange of experience between users and experts in the field.
With the latest changes in legislation, in the future, customers connected to medium voltage will not be supplied with electricity at the prices regulated by the State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation. They must either choose their supplier on the market at freely negotiated prices, or remain with their previous supplier on a regulated market, but under already changed conditions, as a so-called supplier of last resort. As participants in the free market, industrial customers must accurately forecast their consumption for each subsequent day. Deviations from this forecast entail additional balancing costs for consumers. The regulatory framework enables customers to avoid this risk by joining a balancing group to minimise these costs.
“In the context of a sectoral economic crisis, in which the business is trying to maintain its competitiveness, our goal is to prepare our customers for the new market conditions, guide them on how to reduce risk and find the most appropriate solution for them in view of their specific individual needs. As a supplier of electricity and coordinator of a balancing group, we strive to be as useful as possible to our customers by advising them on how to make their consumption more efficient and reduce their costs, and on the other hand we guarantee the security of electricity supply. Our goal is to continue to be their supplier, correct and reliable partner in the new market environment”, said Plamen Stefanov — Chairman of the Management Board of ENERGO-PRO Sales and Manager of ENERGO-PRO Energy Services.
The functioning of the free market in electricity provides consumers with an unlimited choice of supplier. Thus, free competition is achieved between market participants, with the aim of increasing the quality of the services offered, the reliability of supply and optimizing the cost of energy.
