ENERGO-PRO reports a decrease in consumption during the New Year holidays
Electricity consumption by ENERGO-PRO customers in North-East Bulgaria on public holidays from December 31, 2022 to January 2, 2023 was 47,288 MWh (megawatt hours). This is about 6.6 MWh, or 12.2% less than the same period a year earlier, when the energy company's customers consumed 53,896 MWh. Peak consumption in both 2021 and 2022 in the period of the three days off is recorded at the peak of the holiday on December 31. The company, which supplies electricity to 1.2 million consumers in the districts of Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Gabrovo, Ruse, Silistra, Dobrich, Razgrad, Targovishte and Shumen traditionally registers increased electricity consumption at the end of each year during the Christmas and New Year holidays. A smaller decrease in consumption compared to the previous year in the mentioned three-day period was observed for Varna region — 4.6%.
The slightly warmer weather during the newly ended New Year holidays 2022/2023 in contrast to the same three weekends in 2021/2022 is one of the reasons for the reduced consumption in the territory of the ERP North according to specialists. In the district city of Varna, on the other hand, a significant difference in consumption is not observed, probably due to the large number of establishments full of people celebrating. Despite the exported general data, the consumption of each individual customer is individual and depends on the consumer style, the method of heating and the class of electrical appliances used, as well as on the presence of internal and external insulation of premises and buildings.
During the holidays, the accountants of the ERP North worked and reported the consumed electricity according to the usual schedule in order to comply with the strictly regulated reporting period within 31 days, in accordance with the General Conditions for access and transmission of electricity through the electricity distribution network of EP North.
