Liberalization of the energy market for small businesses is the main topic of ENERGO-PRO's meetings with local authorities

As part of their information campaign to acquaint the local authorities in North-Eastern Bulgaria with the novelties in the energy sector, this week the managers of ENERGO-PRO Varna visited Gabrovo, Ruse, Razgrad and Targovishte. During their tour in the cities where the regional structural centers of the company are located, Angel Angelov, Angela Toneva and Georgi Korshia met with the mayors of the settlements. A leading topic in the talks was the upcoming liberalization of all small business establishments from October 1 this year. The change will create a competitive environment in business environments and lead to increased efficiency in the supply of electricity through market mechanisms of free trade. According to the changes in the Energy Act, the final supplier in its capacity as a current supplier will notify all its non-domestic customers about the upcoming cessation of supply at regulated prices as of 01.10.2020.
Among the other topics that the managers of ENERGO-PRO discussed with the local government were the upcoming new prices on a regulated market from July 1 this year. The mayors were also briefed on the process of updating data on power provided by non-residential customers and asked additional questions about how to implement, benefits for consumers and approaches to reducing and increasing the maximum power of sites. Information on possible questions and answers regarding the campaign are published on the EP North website. Business customers of the electricity distribution company are notified by letters that the deadline for submitting applications for updating data for provided power is 30.06.2020.
The management of ENERGO-PRO presented to the local government the investment and repair programs of the electricity distribution company for the current year, which were delayed due to the state of emergency declared on 13.03.2020 in the country. At the time, all EPs in the country cooperated with the Ministry of Energy by canceling their planned repairs in support of working and learning electricity consumers at home.
The meetings held this week with the local government ended with clearly stated expectations from both sides for cooperation on energy projects and case studies. With the invitations issued and the conducted site tours, the managers of the energy company are fulfilling their part of the commitment made earlier in the year to raise awareness, open dialogue and active cooperation with the mayors and members of the municipal structures in North-East Bulgaria.
