Electricity consumption in North-East Bulgaria decreased by 0.7% during public holidays compared to 2011
Electricity consumption during the holidays in North-East Bulgaria was 0.7% less compared to the holidays last year, according to ENERGO-PRO data. The campaign supplies electricity to 1.1 million customers in the districts of Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Gabrovo, Ruse, Silistra, Dobrich, Razgrad, Targovishte and Shumen. The amount of electricity consumed on 24, 25, 31 December 2012 and 1 January 2013 totalled 82.67 million kilowatt hours over the four days.
Traditionally, electricity consumption is highest on New Year's Eve. Peak consumption was recorded at 7 pm on 31 December 2012, when peak values amounted to more than 1.26 million kilowatts. For comparison, on December 31, 2011, the maximum consumption of electric energy was recorded at 18 hours and its value amounted to 1.3 million kilowatts.
The trend is different on Christmas Eve - December 24, 2012, when the highest consumption was recorded at 6 pm - 1.14 million kilowatts. It is 16% higher than the amount of electricity consumed at the same hour on December 24, 2011.
