At a meeting of the Management Board of ENERGO-PRO Varna with the Mayor of the Municipality of Shumen and other representatives of the local government, current projects of the companies of the Group concerning the joint work with the municipal representatives were discussed. One of the important topics of the meeting was the liberalization of non-domestic customers, according to changes in the Energy Law of June 2020. Governors Angel Angelov, Angela Toneva and Daniela Dimitrova pointed out to the Mayor of Shumen Municipality Lyubomir Hristov that 3700 non-domestic customers of ENERGO-PRO Sales have not yet chosen an electricity supplier on the free market, the deadline for which expires next month.
The meeting at the initiative of the energy company is being held for the second year in a row and is part of the tour of the governors in the large municipalities in North-East Bulgaria with the aim of improved communication and open dialogue on topics of mutual interest. The governors briefed the local government in Shumen on ongoing projects, including the planned investments of the electricity distribution company ERP North in the Shumen district network in 2021. It was stated that by the end of the year the company will invest BGN 4.6 million in the rehabilitation of the electricity distribution facilities and in a new network, in accordance with the investment and repair programs of the company.
The meeting ended with a review of the development of network cases raised during a discussion on similar topics last year between the governors and the local government. Additional ways of mutual cooperation in joint work were agreed. The commitment to open and facilitated communication between the two countries for the benefit of the quality supply of electricity to customers in the area was confirmed.
