Elektrodistribuenie Sever, part of ENERGO-PRO Varna group, is investing BGN 250,000 in upgrading the equipment of Maksuda substation in Varna. The reconstruction of the facility will improve the security of electricity supply to over 6500 households and business customers in the area of the Western Industrial Zone in Varna, part of the Vladislav Varnenchik district and 12 villages in the nearby municipality of Aksakovo.

During the renovation of the Maksuda substation, new high-voltage metering current transformers and remote digital protections were installed, which monitor the condition of power lines and allow selective shutdown of damaged equipment without disturbing the normal operation of the remaining sections of the network. As a result, the number of customers whose power supply is turned off during repair work is significantly limited. The specialist teams replaced the existing circuit breakers with the latest generation vacuum ones, which protect the system from damage due to short circuits or external influences.

Modern equipment allows automation of the adjacent network. Remote telemechanical control of the substation makes it possible to locate faults that have occurred much faster and restore the power supply to customers. The Maksuda substation renovation project is part of the EPR North investment program for 2018 and aims at sustainable operation of the facility in the upcoming winter season.
