85-ton transformer worth BGN 1.2 million will provide electricity in the central part of Varna
Nearly 20,000 Varna residents will have a more reliable and secure electricity supply
A power transformer of the latest generation, weighing 85 tons, will install ENERGO-PRO Grids in Varna South substation on Devnya Street 2. The new facility was built in 2012 by SGB Smith International GmbH — Germany.
“Until now, the substation has been operating a transformer, which has been in operation for more than 30 years and has reduced technical performance. The new power transformer has significantly better technical characteristics — it has a nominal power of 40/50 MVA (megavoltampere), has a much more efficient operating mode, is able to take a significantly higher load and will allow new users to join. Its commissioning will significantly increase the quality and security of power supply to nearly 20 thousand customers in the central urban area and will create conditions for the development of the medium voltage network”, said Martin Mirchev, member of the Management Board of ENERGO-PRO Networks AD.
For the transport of the 85-ton facility, a corridor from Ruse to Varna was provided by the Road Infrastructure Agency, together with police officers. Today the transformer has already been delivered to the city of Varna, and tomorrow, at 6:00am, it will be transferred for positioning in Varna South substation.
The investment in the modern facility, worth BGN 1.2 million, is part of the policy of ENERGO-PRO Networks for renovation and development of the electricity distribution network in the territory of North-East Bulgaria. Two other transformers of the same class will be delivered and installed in June at Varna East substation and Veliko Tarnovo substation.
