Information as of 11:00

During yesterday's storm, which mainly affected Central Northern Bulgaria, in some places the wind speed reached 34 meters per second. In the most affected areas Gabrovo and Veliko Tarnovo there are many fallen trees, blown roofs and broken windows. A state of emergency has been declared in the municipalities of Gabrovo, Tryavna and Dryanovo and the authorities urge people not to leave their homes. Affected by the storm is a substation of the Electricity System Operator (ESO), from which power is not currently supplied to the facilities of ENERGO-PRO Grids. All emergency teams of ENERGO-PRO are mobilized to locate and eliminate the accidents on the facilities of the electricity distribution network in the territory of North-East Bulgaria.

As of 11:00am today, a total of 73,000 customers in 376 settlements are without electricity in the regions of Gabrovo, Veliko Tarnovo, Shumen and Targovishte. The most severe situation is in the districts of Gabrovo and Veliko Tarnovo, where 217 and 105 settlements are respectively without electricity. The power supply to 54 settlements in the districts of Targovishte (40) and Shumen (14) has also been cut off. As a result of the high wind speed, fallen trees and flying objects, numerous accidents are triggered - knocked down medium-voltage poles, broken wires and others. In ENERGO-PRO a Crisis Management Board is convened and operates. To repair the damage caused by the natural element, the company redirects additional resources to the most affected areas. 20 emergency teams from Ruse have been sent to repair damage in Gabrovo district, and another 10 teams from less affected areas will be redirected to Veliko Tarnovo district. ENERGO-PRO teams will work without interruption until the full normalization of the electricity supply.
