At the beginning of March, fourth-year students from the Department of Electrical Power Engineering and Electrical Equipment of the University of Ruse “Angel Kanchev” visited the dispatching center of ENERGO-PRO Networks AD in the city of Ruse.

The future young specialists got acquainted with the conditions and procedures under which the operational management of the electricity system is carried out on the territory of the Ruse and Razgrad districts. The students, together with their supervisor, Assoc. Prof. Konstantin Koev, had the opportunity to examine the one-line scheme of the region, implemented on the dispatch shield, as well as the documentation that each dispatching unit keeps — for carrying out planned activities on the network, for operational switches, for changing the power supply scheme, for registering accidents and others. The funds for Automated Dispatch Management System (ASDU) in the dispatch room and the methods of management and control of the facilities in various sites made a special impression. Regional Senior Dispatcher Ognyan Kochev introduced the group to the possibilities of collecting data for the network in real time and for remote control of the facilities using the built telemechanics system.

The visit of the students to the ENERGO-PRO Networks dispatch center in Ruse is a continuation of a long-standing tradition, which enables future electrical engineers, even during their university training, to track in real conditions how the electricity facilities function. The practical information they receive from such initiatives strengthens their theoretical knowledge of electrical energy and electrical equipment and guides them where they can be professionally realized in the future.

After the visit, Associate Professor Konstantin Koev from the University of Ruse shared: “The students were extremely satisfied with the visit and are interested in other opportunities to visit ENERGO-PRO Networks sites.” He thanked the dispatchers for the practical knowledge handed over to the young electrical engineers and expressed the hope that this established practice will continue in the future.
