Electricity Distribution North invests more than 950 thousand leva in bird protection facilities

Yesterday, the company secured a section of the electricity distribution network near the village of Stojer
Caring for the environment and the conservation of protected species is a priority in the work of the EP North. For the last 18 months, the company has installed nearly 18,000 pieces of bird protection devices worth BGN 957 thousand. The facilities are located in North-Eastern Bulgaria, where the migratory routes of birds pass. In recent years, an important focus in the activities of the electricity distribution company is the installation of bird guards, bird guards and protective platforms.
EP North electricians often play the role of rescuers of feathered animals. For years, the company has been working together with the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds and the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds and the RIESW in important habitats for feathered animals to secure power poles in order to mitigate this serious threat. EPR North readily responds to signals and takes care to ensure the peaceful residence of birds in our country.
The main projects of the electricity distribution company program for the protection of birds are carried out before the spring and after the autumn migration. The aim is not to disturb the feathered animals during their nesting and breeding period. Safeguarding of facilities is carried out in case of emergency and during the active summer season for birds, when there is an immediate threat to their life and health. This is the case with the electricity distribution grid poles near the village of Stojer, Dobrichko, where last week storks migrating from northern Europe came under strain and died. Yesterday, the company's teams secured 33 reinforced concrete pillars and installed 13 bird protection devices on iron lattice posts in the area.
Unfortunately, every year there is a change in the migratory route of birds in their annual migration. Although the electricity distribution company responds in a timely manner and annually installs bird protection devices at the newly chosen places of stay and rest of the feathered animals before their departure to the south, it is practically impossible to determine with accuracy their upcoming flyover area for each subsequent season. This leads to incidents that are difficult to prevent despite constant work to secure the overflight routes.
The EPP North programme for the protection of birds is long-term and is implemented all year round, and measures are tailored according to the season and migration of birds. In the particular case with the dead feathered end with. The Stojer electricity distribution company has taken the necessary measures to secure the facilities in the area of the village.
