ENERGO-PRO finances an open-air research center for natural sciences at the University of Dobrich “Dimitar Talev”

With the financial support of the “ENERGO-PRO for Society” initiative Dimitar Talev secondary school in the city of Dobrich has built a research center “Looking to the Future”. Yesterday, its official opening took place in the courtyard of the educational institution. Special guest of the event was Mr. Zdravko Milanov, manager of distribution service center Dobrich and Silistra.

“The main idea in the project of our school was the creation of an open-air research, nature and environmental center, in which students will have the opportunity to conduct educational activities on physics, geography, fine arts, technology and entrepreneurship, mathematics, biology and chemistry,” said at the opening Mrs. Vesela Stoyanova, director of Sofia University “Dimitar Talev”. “We are glad that ENERGO-PRO appreciated the innovation of our project and that thanks to their donation we were able to build and equip a place that would provoke in our graduates curiosity, research spirit and a sense of responsibility towards environmental protection. We thank the energy company for a wonderful social initiative, through which we were able to build on the efforts made over the years in one of our priority areas - environmental education and education of adolescents”.

The Center for Research of Natural Sciences is in three directions - “Astronomy”, “Meteopology” and “Ecology”. The equipment includes a telescope, a camera, monitors, a weather station, an air purity meter, feeders and sets with binoculars for bird watching. There will be an opportunity to create labels for individuals in each of the directions. Students of the second, sixth and ninth grades were the first to test the capabilities of the research center and demonstrate the work with them to the guests of the event.

The candidacy of the Sofia University “Dimitar Talev” was in the field of “Building environmental values”. Applications for funding under the “ENERGO-PRO for Society” initiative can also be submitted in the areas of “Child Development”, “Environmental Protection”, “Sustainable Urban Development”, “Energy Efficiency”, “Safe Use of Electrical Appliances and Energy Facilities”. Priority is given to projects that have a long-term effect and offer new practices to change public attitudes.
