ENERGO-PRO informs the Varna Regional Administration about the launch of a series of meetings with mayors of settlements in connection with electricity supply on the territory of the district

ENERGO-PRO organizes a series of meetings with mayors of municipalities and settlements in connection with the supply of electricity in the territory of Varna region. On this occasion yesterday, September 19, the Governor of ENERGO-PRO, Mr. Stefan Abadzhiev, met with the Regional Governor of Varna, Mr. Ivan Velikov.

During the meeting, Mr. Abadzhiev informed Mr. Velikov about the financial situation of ENERGO-PRO after the introduction of the new electricity prices from 1 August and the specific conditions of regulation of electricity distribution and supply activities in Bulgaria. “We are working in conditions of economic crisis and this largely determines the pricing policy of the State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (DCEWR). This policy seeks to keep electricity prices as low as possible so that they are socially bearable. However, this limits our activity in maintaining and developing the network. With the latest price decision of DCEVR, the operating costs of the company were reduced and a very limited amount of funds for investments was foreseen. This put us in a situation to optimize all processes in the company and limit to the sanitary minimum the costs of our activity. We do this in order to allocate the necessary funds to maintain the electricity distribution facilities in the required technical condition and to develop the network to provide the opportunity to connect new users,” said Mr. Abadjiev.

On September 18, 2013 Mr. Abadzhiev met with mayors and deputy mayors of the villages Izvorsko, Zornitsa, L. Karavelovo, Voditsa, Zasmyano, Krumovo, Radevo, Botevo, Novakovo, Yarebichna, Charbon and Dobrogled in the municipality of Aksakovo. The occasion for the meeting, organized by ENERGO-PRO, was a letter from the representatives of the local government, in which they expressed their concerns in connection with short-term power outages in individual settlements in the municipality of Aksakovo. At the meeting, problems related to electricity supply in the area were discussed and measures for their elimination were discussed. “Electricity is a specific industry and, outside professional circles, the financial parameters for its operation are little known in our society. For years, citizens have not received sufficiently clear and transparent information about how the price of electricity is determined, what it includes, what the money they pay with their bills is used for. For us, as a company that supplies electricity to end customers, it is important for people to know that the price and quality of electricity are like docked vessels. The lower the limit on the cost of maintaining the network, the more limited our possibilities to improve and develop the service we provide to our customers,” added the manager of ENERGO-PRO.

“Our desire is that such meetings, such as the one we held with some of the mayors and deputy mayors in the municipality of Aksakovo, become a practice in order to have the opportunity to speak directly with the representatives of the local authority, to hear their concerns, to inform them about the possibilities for taking adequate measures for their removal and to acquaint them with the specific features aspects of our activity. Therefore, I welcome the initiative of the Regional Governor of Varna, Mr. Ivan Velikov, to host such a meeting. I accept with pleasure the invitation of Mr. Velikov for a meeting with mayors of municipalities and settlements in Varna region, which he planned to take place on October 4. We will inform the mayors about the measures we take to prepare the facilities for operation in winter conditions, we will talk with them about the problems we encounter and about the projects we plan to implement on the territory of the district”, said Mr. Abadjiev.
