ENERGO-PRO installs stork platforms in Dobrich, Silistra and Targovishte districts

ENERGO-PRO teams started installing stork nest platforms on poles of the power distribution network in Dobrichko, Silistren and Targovishko to protect the beautiful feathered birds from contact with the overhead power distribution network. The initiative is traditionally carried out with the assistance of the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds. The conservationists, as well as the mayors and residents of the settlements, submit information about the locations with the need to install protective facilities.

Actions on the installation of platforms are held every year in the period after the autumn migration, when couples have already raised their offspring in the summer and flew to latitudes with a warmer climate.

Statistics on the distribution of white storks in Bulgaria show that poles are a preferred nesting place in more than 50% of cases. Usually storks build their nests in settlements near people, in areas with arable and water areas. They protect the crop from destruction by feeding on field rodents and other pests.

Pairs of the protected species show a special attachment to the nests in which they have raised offspring and are sensitive to external interference. Therefore, the movement of their homes from twigs, mud and straw on platforms is carried out with the assistance of specialists - ornithologists.

By placing a robust structure on the electrical equipment, the company's teams preserve both the life and health of the birds, as well as the health of the network supplying electricity to the residents of the area. In this way, accidents are prevented and a reliable power supply is ensured.
