Reconstruction boosts quality and security for 2,000 customers in the area

ENERGO-PRO Networks continues the project started in 2012 for upgrading the equipment in substations and node stations on the territory of Varna region.

At the end of last year, the company completely renovated the 110 kilovolt system of the South substation, supplying part of the city center, and reconstructed two substations - in the town of Provadia and the district “Vazrazhdane” in Varna. At the beginning of 2013, the equipment was also renewed at the node station St. Constantine and Elena.

The repair of the node station includes the renovation of the building, as well as the rehabilitation of the 20 kilovolt system, which includes the replacement of the old circuit breakers with new ones of the latest generation, the installation of new digital relay protections and the replacement of the rectifier, bus system and other equipment. The telemechanics, through which the facilities are controlled remotely, has also been updated. This way of management reduces the response time in case of accidents, due to the fact that the manipulations are carried out centrally and no time is wasted for an emergency team to reach the facility.

“ENERGO-PRO Networks strives to gradually renew and modernize the facilities of the electricity distribution network on the territory of North-East Bulgaria. Our constant goal is to offer our customers higher quality and security of electricity supply. We have finalized the renovation project of the node station St. Konstantin and Elena at the end of March, in order to anticipate the start of the active tourist season, when we expect consumption to increase significantly”, said Martin Mirchev — Member of the Management Board of ENERGO-PRO Networks.

Node station St. Konstantin & Elena supplies electricity to 2,000 customers in the area of the resort complex, the Botanical Garden and part of the Trakata area. More than 140 000 BGN have been invested in its renovation. Nearly BGN 750,000 has been invested for the reconstruction of the substation and the three interchange stations.

“We would like to continue to modernize the network in North-East Bulgaria, to apply modern technologies. We have planned to include objects worth BGN 55 million in the investment program of the company. How much this will be possible depends on the amount of investments that the State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation will approve in the price decision of July 1, 2013,” added Mr. Mirchev.
