The state of the energy market in Bulgaria was one of the main topics discussed by Bulgarian and foreign electricity traders during the international conference Energy Risk Balkans, held on 28 April in Sofia. The conference, which was held with the support of ENERGO-PRO, was attended by representatives of the Bulgarian Energy Regulator (BSEC), the Electricity System Operator (ESO), the Association of Industrial Consumers in Bulgaria, as well as Bulgarian and foreign electricity traders.

In the discussion, in which ENERGO-PRO experts took an active part, special attention was paid to the forthcoming full liberalization of the market and the problems that need to be solved in order to build a single, transparent and liquid market that ensures a balanced distribution of resources in the system. At the same time, according to energy experts, it is necessary to stimulate the export of electricity, which will further strengthen the financial position of state-owned electricity companies.

The conference participants united around the opinion that the future energy exchange will be a key step for the development of the Bulgarian market and a prerequisite for its integration with other European markets. The abolition of the export tax was highlighted as an indispensable condition for strengthening the state of the sector and stimulating the production of electricity in the country.
