ENERGO-PRO continues the sustainable expansion of the electricity distribution network in Varna with new strategic investments

The plan for investments in new energy facilities was presented at a meeting in Varna municipality with representatives of CEFR, ESO and the Chamber of Builders
ENERGO-PRO, as part of its long-term strategy for modernization and sustainable development of the electricity distribution network in North-East Bulgaria, presented a new stage of its investment program for the city of Varna. At a joint meeting with the mayor of the municipality, representatives of the Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (EWRC), the Electricity System Operator (ESO) and representatives of business organizations, the management of the company announced upcoming projects to expand the network capacity in the region.
Under the current investment phase, part of a larger programme, three new substations will be built and new power transformers will be installed in two of the substations of ERP North — the power distribution company of the ENERGO-PRO group. The total value of the investments will exceed BGN 40 million and aims to support the economic development of the city, as well as to increase the reliability of electricity supply for businesses and citizens.
The management of ENERGO-PRO also shared the challenges related to administrative procedures, including delays in project coordination and difficulties in establishing a building right. In addition, conditions were discussed and imposed by the local administration - increased security deposits and requirements for full restoration of the street pavement, which make it difficult to effectively deploy the investment activity. The company expressed hope that with a constructive dialogue with the local government, these obstacles will be overcome in order to accelerate the pace of development of the network.
ENERGO-PRO is also actively working to improve the regulatory framework, having already proposed legislative amendments to the Law on Spatial Planning (ZT) and the Law on Public Procurement (ZPA). The aim is to create more favourable conditions for the construction of new energy facilities and for the modernisation of existing infrastructure.
“The development of the electricity distribution network is a process in which ENERGO-PRO has invested purposefully and sustainably in recent years. We believe that with the support of the institutions and the local government, we can continue to build a reliable and modern network that meets the needs of businesses, households and future generations, “commented Angel Angelov, Chairman of the Management Board of ENERGO-PRO.
