The Governors of ENERGO-PRO Varna Angel Angelov, Angela Toneva and Georgi Korshiya met with the Mayor of Shumen Lyubomir Hristov and the Regional Governor of Shumen Region Stefan Zhelev. The meeting is part of the energy company's campaign to raise awareness, open dialogue and active cooperation with the local authorities in North-East Bulgaria. The main topic of the meeting was the upcoming liberalization of the energy market for small businesses from October 1 this year. Steps for successful liberalization, expected changes and ENERGO-PRO's proposals for facilitating procedures were presented to the local government.

During the meeting, the management of ENERGO-PRO confirmed its commitment to Mr. Hristov to support the economic development of Shumen and the infrastructure development in the region. In view of the increased investment interest in Shumen Industrial Park and the need to increase the capacity there, the company is committed to doing everything possible in response to the demand from the business. A request has been sent to the ESO to analyse the possibility of providing additional connection points within the existing network infrastructure. It is also planned to repair transmission lines, which will facilitate the supply of electricity in the region. All decisions will be based on the agreed capacity for connection to the network and the capabilities of the investment programme approved by the EBRD.

The subsidiary electricity distribution company ERP North has set up a number of projects to improve the operation of the electricity distribution network and increase the quality of electricity supply in its investment program for the Shumen region. The introduced state of emergency in the country delayed their implementation in order to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to workers and students from home. At present, investment activities on the network have been restored and work is being done at an accelerated pace for the implementation of the launched projects.

During the meeting, the management of ENERGO-PRO informed the participants about the progress of the power data update project, which is currently underway in connection with the introduction of new pricing for non-domestic customers of the company from July 1. The idea is that updating the data will result in a fair distribution of the cost of network access among business users. The regulatory-approved change, which has already been made in the other two electricity distribution companies in the country, will enable better planning of the development of the network according to the real needs of the business.
