64% of the company's domestic customers consumed electricity below BGN 49.07

691 374 households in North-East Bulgaria have an average electricity bill of less than BGN 49.07 for the month of January. This is a total of 64% of the domestic customers of the electricity supply company on the territory of Varna, Dobrich, Shumen, Targovishte, Veliko Tarnovo, Gabrovo, Ruse, Razgrad and Silistra regions. Another 19% had bills worth from 49.07 to 100 leva, and the remaining 17% consumed electricity for more than 100 leva. This was stated today by Stefan Abadzhiev, manager of ENERGO-PRO, at a meeting with journalists in Varna.

The manager of the electricity company explained that as a result of the sharp decrease in temperatures at the end of January, electricity consumption in Northeastern Bulgaria increased significantly. For the period 25 — 27 January ENERGO-PRO recorded an average growth of 22.53% in electricity consumption compared to the same period of the previous week (18 — 20 January). For Varna district, the average increase in electricity consumption over the same period was 28.06%. For the majority of customers, the increased consumption will be reflected in the next bill, the one for February, which is paid in March.

Mr. Abadzhiev informed the media representatives in Varna that this year ENERGO-PRO launched the ENERGO transparency campaign, which includes analysis of the consumption of customers who have higher bills than usual for the period. Specialists of the company will conduct a check of the readings and accuracy of the electricity meters of these customers in their presence.

“We are open to dialogue and want full transparency of electricity bills. Therefore, we initiate checks in the presence of customers if they have unusually high bills. Representatives of the media can also attend if they show interest,” said the manager of ENERGO-PRO. “Every winter, electricity consumption rises and this creates financial difficulties for some of our customers. We are ready to offer a suitable deferral scheme for customers who have difficulty paying their bills on time,” he added.

The ENERGO Transparency campaign was launched for the first time in February 2013. Then ENERGO-PRO checked the electricity meters of 1000 customers on its own initiative. Within the framework of the campaign, no cases of signed bills or inaccurate electricity meters were identified.

The manager of the electricity company also presented the campaign “At the service of the customer”, which ENERGO-PRO launched in connection with the World Consumer Day - March 15. The campaign includes three initiatives. The first is the creation of a mobile export office that will work on a schedule in smaller settlements where there are no permanent customer service centers. It was launched on February 11 in the city of Provadia. The second is the new service “Energy Consultant”. It is available in customer service centers, where each household customer will have the opportunity to receive an individual consultation to improve the energy efficiency of their household. The third initiative is the organization of the “Leadership Reception Day” of the company. It includes meetings with clients on a schedule in different cities of North-Eastern Bulgaria. The schedule of the mobile office and the reception day of the management is announced on the website of ENERGO-PRO www.energo-pro.bg.
