ERP North installs 635 bird protection devices on electricity distribution facilities in North-East Bulgaria
Since the beginning of 2018, Elektrodistribuenie North has installed 635 bird protection facilities along tens of kilometers of the company's power lines in North-East Bulgaria. Installed facilities include bird enclosures, insulating sleeves and nesting platforms, and are intended to prevent the birds from becoming stressed. The company's specialists continue to work actively in the period after the autumn migration of feathered animals to the south in order to provide them with safe living conditions in our country. Protective equipment is placed in places that are most preferred by birds for nesting and breeding offspring, as well as for landing and recreation during migration.
The EPP North policy to ensure the safety of birds has been established and complied with in accordance with the Biodiversity Act and taking into account the fact that the white stork (Ciconia ciconia) is a protected species. EPR North responds in a timely manner to requests for assistance received from municipalities and non-governmental organizations, as well as to citizens' signals for assistance to distressed feathered animals. In this regard, the electricity distribution company and the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds (BSPB) work together and implement a number of joint projects to protect the life and health of birds. ERP North plans to supply 9,000 new bird protection devices for poles and 30,000 bird protection covers for insulators for the company's needs over the next 3 years.
