EPR North secured new sections of the network in Dobrichko

The electricity distribution company in North-East Bulgaria installed bird protection devices on sections of the network in the area of the villages Stojer, Sokolnik, Draganovo in Dobrich region. The work of the teams is planned immediately after the migration of the birds in order to avoid disrupting their nesting period and raising young in the summer. The activities are a continuation of measures launched at the end of August to secure the air lines in the area and are part of a project for a protected environment for birds in the territory served by the company. EPA North shall take account of the changes in the stork flyover route each year and assess the type of protective device appropriate to be placed on the relevant overhead power line.
Active network security activities in North-East Bulgaria will continue until early spring before the birds arrive in the country. During the summer season, EP North will only carry out urgent intervention on facilities in stork nesting areas. Future projects to ensure the safe stay of birds in Bulgaria are planned by the Electricity Distribution Company in cooperation with BZPD and local municipalities.
For the last 18 months, ERP North's investments in bird protection devices amounted to nearly BGN 1 million.
