Employees of Network Measurement District 12 in the Varna Regional Service Center of ERP North cleaned and strengthened a stork nest in the village of Dolishte, Aksakovo municipality. At the request of the inhabitants of the village, a new bird protection platform was also installed near the existing nest. For greater safety of storks, a new type of twisted insulated wire was installed under the nest. The activities shall be adapted to the migratory periods of the birds and in accordance with regulatory provisions.

Electric poles are one of the most preferred nesting sites by stork pairs. Dry twigs and other flammable materials, from which birds usually create nests, can cause fires when touching the live wires and lead to the death of newly hatched birds. Through the installation of platforms through which stork families' homes are raised and secured, EP North is taking care of the conservation of the population of the white stork (Ciconia ciconia) in the country.
