ERP North will invest over BGN 14 million in the electricity distribution network of Varna region in 2021

At a meeting between the management of ENERGO-PRO, the Mayor of Varna and representatives of the municipal administration, the company's investment intentions for 2021 for the development of the electricity distribution network in the area and current topics from the electricity sector — the mandatory liberalization of the electricity market for small business customers and the expected change in the final prices on the regulated market from July 1, 2021 were presented d.

During the meeting, current issues related to the activities of the company for renovation and repair of the electricity distribution network in the area of the city of Varna and the district were discussed. The managers of ENERGO-PRO Varna presented the improvements made to the electricity distribution network for 2020, which led to an increase in the quality and security of electricity supply to thousands of households, customers of the company. The focus of the activity is the reconstruction of networks and replacement of cable lines if necessary, as well as coverage of places with increased electricity consumption for the construction of a completely new network. Emphasis in the investment work will be the replacement of overhead cable lines, the construction of a new network and facilities in the villa areas around the city of Varna. In view of the increased growth of construction, the work on connecting newly built facilities to the electricity distribution network remains a priority. The joint actions and synchronized efforts between the Municipality and the electricity distribution company in the repair and rehabilitation of the infrastructure at the stage of investment intentions were also discussed.

Among the main topics discussed during the meeting was the process of mandatory liberalization for all non-domestic customers launched in October. The grace period provided for in the legislation expires on June 30, 2021. The managers of ENERGO-PRO presented an updated report on the number of customers in the territory of the district who have not yet chosen an electricity supplier on the free market. Non-residential customers of ENERGO-PRO Sales who by June 10, 2021 do not conclude an electricity supply contract with any of the nearly 50 traders on the liberalized market, will switch from July 1, 2021 to a Provider of last resort, where electricity prices are significantly higher than market prices. Most of the customers who are still on a standard contract rather than one with freely negotiated prices are small businesses with low consumption and at this stage do not show an active interest in changing their supplier.

The meeting is part of a program for effective cooperation with the local government, within the framework of which the management of ENERGO-PRO proactively meets with the mayors of the regional cities in the territory of North-Eastern Bulgaria.
