Ministry of Energy checked the preparation of Elektrodistribuenie Sever for the winter season

The Ministry of Energy carried out the annual check of the readiness of Elektrodistribuenie North, part of the ENERGO-PRO Varna group, for operation in the winter season. The team, which included experts from the Directorate “Security of Electricity Supply and Management in Crisis Situations” of the Ministry, visited sites selected according to the methodology of the electricity distribution network of ERP North.

Power lines, substations, substations and substations throughout the territory of North-Eastern Bulgaria were inspected. The inspectors received full assistance from representatives of the ENERGO-PRO engineering teams as well as the company's specialists responsible for the daily maintenance and operation of the electricity distribution network.

The representatives of the Ministry of Energy (ME) got acquainted with the schedule of activities and checked the quality of the work carried out on the preparation of the electricity distribution network in the territory served by Elektrodistribuenie Sever.

For the normal functioning of the facilities in the coming winter, the teams of the electricity distribution company carry out regular inspections and prevention, which includes inspection of equipment with a special infrared camera, replacement of insulators, cables and wires, cleaning and servicing according to an established annual schedule.

Activities under the winter preparation programme begin in stages as early as June, and the main part of them ends by the end of September each year. In October and November, final surveys and inspections are carried out to identify emerging problem situations and risks to the operation of facilities during the winter season.

To date, the specialists of ERP North have laid 116,754 meters of new medium (sN) and low voltage (NV) cables. 2261 steel lattice and reinforced concrete pillars are installed, 1516 km of air twisted HN wires with high resistance to adverse weather conditions. 10.3 tons of new aluminum-steel wires were loaded into the network. Replaced 2808 measuring and power transformers, 833 distribution cassettes, 1464 HN circuit breakers. 18.6 tons of transformer oil was poured.

As part of the preparations for the winter season, the activities of cleaning the air power lines, autumn prevention and ongoing repairs on some facilities are to be finalized on schedule.

The company has 381 repair teams, equipped with the necessary personal protective equipment and specialized equipment and equipment. The vehicle fleet is also prepared with 935 off-road, team and specialized cars available. There are plans in place to deal with emergencies.

Elektrodistribuenie North manages and maintains a power distribution network with a total length of 42,185 km. on an area of nearly 30,000 sq. km and covers 9 administrative districts in North-East Bulgaria - Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Gabrovo, Dobrich, Razgrad, Ruse, Silistra, Targovishte and Shumen.
