More than 30 thousand households and companies receive more secure power supply after repair of substation in Veliko Tarnovo

ENERGO-PRO Networks specialists renovated part of the equipment of Veliko Tarnovo substation, which provides electricity to 30,400 households and companies in the central urban area and nearby settlements. New medium voltage digital relay protections were installed, which significantly increases the safety of the electrical equipment. The investment is worth BGN 50,000.

Substation Veliko Tarnovo is located in Buzludzha district zone B of the old capital city. It has an open distribution system of 110 kV and an indoor system of 20 kV and 10 kV. It is equipped with two power transformers with a total installed capacity of 90 MVA.

The electricians of the network company replacedexisting to date electromechanical relay protections of medium voltage terminals with new digital ones. Their main function is to protect facilities and ensure safety during service and repairs. The installed new elements in the substation are significantly more sensitive to the occurrence of ground and short circuits on power lines and allow monitoring of emergency events. The repair increases the security and speed of the defenses and minimizes the risk of damage to facilities of strategic importance to the energy system in the area. As a result, more reliable power supply to people in the central urban part of Veliko Tarnovo and nearby settlements has been provided.
