More than 6,600 power engineers underwent training for safe operation of electrical equipment at the ENERGO-PRO Training Center
The training center for safe operation and operation of ENERGO-PRO Networks AD in Varna prepares qualified specialists to work with the facilities of the electricity distribution network in conditions analogous to the real ones. It opened its doors at the end of 2009 and since then more than 6,600 employees of the electricity distribution company and subcontractors, as well as interns, have passed through its training halls and practical training ground.
During the six years of existence of the training center, nearly 5,000 electricians have improved their qualifications and acquired skills to work in safe working conditions. Here, the practical abilities that are trained include actions in scheduled and emergency service, climbing a pole and working at height, repairing damage on medium voltage cables, emergency restoration work, measuring the insulation resistance of a transformer, measuring repeated grounding with special instruments and working on electricity meters and meter boards.
The specialized training modules developed for newly appointed electricians have a theoretical and practical part. Especially for this purpose, a training transformer post, a steel grid pole, training halls for installation of cable heads and couplings, switching equipment, replacement of electricity meter and others have been built. One of the most attractive facilities in the Center is the so-called “baby line”, which is a copy of a real power line, but lowered just 2 meters above the ground, instead of the standard 10. Employees of ENERGO-PRO Networks, who carry out the monthly report of commercial metering devices, also go through a training module for working on the electricity meter farm and using modern SMART devices and terminals.
The focus of the trainings in the company's training center is the achievement of a high professional standard and the formation of habits that guarantee their safety when working on electrical equipment, including providing first aid to a victim of electric shock and securing a workplace at height. Technical employees acquire knowledge about the implementation of all measures necessary to protect their health and life when working on various electrical equipment on the network.
“With the training of our specialists, we aim to build not only professional skills, but also a culture of safety. Compliance with the rules for safe operation of electrical equipment is one of the main criteria for professionalism,” said Mr. Nikolay Nikolov, member of the Management Board of ENERGO-PRO Networks.
In recent years, the Training Center for Safe Work and Operation has repeatedly opened its doors to young specialists from vocational educational institutions. Here, future power engineers have the opportunity to get acquainted closely with the main facilities that are used in power distribution networks, to observe a demonstration of their work in real conditions and, last but not least, to perceive the main value - to work safely, protecting their lives, as well as the lives and health of their colleagues.
