Sites of Euromanganese EAD will be left without electricity due to accumulated liabilities
The power supply to sites of Euromanganese EAD will be temporarily interrupted at the request of CEZ Trade Bulgaria EAD in its capacity as a previous supplier until May 1, 2019 and on the basis of Art. 123, para. 5 of the Energy Act. Electricity Distribution North will suspend the supply of electricity as scheduled from July 8, 2019. The owner of the Obrochishte Euromangan EAD mine has obligations, in addition to CEZ and to ENERGO-PRO as a Supplier of last resort, amounting to over BGN 164,000. The accumulated debt includes the monthly bills for consumed electricity until June 17, 2019. Non-payment of the amounts on invoices for consumed electricity creates a serious financial imbalance in the electricity system and makes it difficult to carry out the operational activities of the companies concerned. Efforts to find an optimal solution to the case that has arisen have been unsuccessful. Letters were sent several times to the CEO of Euromanganese about the existing problem with the accumulated liabilities of the mining company.
The Commission for Energy and Water Regulation, the Ministry of Energy, Dobrich Regional Administration and DANS have been notified about the impending power outage. A notification letter was also sent to the Regional Directorate “Fire Safety and Protection of the Population” Dobrich branch, with a view to taking the necessary actions to ensure safety in the Obrochishte mine. Elektrodistribuenie Sever will restore the electricity supply of Euromanganese EAD immediately after repayment of the company's obligations to the previous electricity supplier CEZ Trade Bulgaria EAD.
