Regional Governors in North-East Bulgaria will assist ERP North in ensuring stable electricity supply

Today, the last of the series of meetings with the regional governors in North-Eastern Bulgaria, initiated by the ERP North on the occasion of making requests, was held in Varna Regional Administration. At them, representatives of the local government united around the commitment to cooperate on marking trees outside the easement of power lines, in order to prevent and minimize the risk of emergency situations.

In Varna region, it is expected that by June 18, 2025, an Order will be issued for the formation of commissions to inspect the critical places on the power lines, and by July 30, protocols with an inventory of dangerous trees will be prepared and sent. In the course of work, dangerous vegetation outside the easement areas will be checked and marked.

EPP North will secure the power lines by disconnecting the problem areas, dismantle the wires if necessary until the dangerous trees fall, but appeals to the relevant forest and hunting farms to fulfill the obligation to remove them.

At the meetings it was proposed to prepare and introduce legal changes concerning private forests through which facilities of the electricity distribution company pass. The idea was positively received by the district governors.

For the successful implementation of the preparation of surveys, the EPP North relies on the active cooperation of the responsible institutions in the person of the regional authorities and the regional forest directorates. Vegetation outside the easement zones as well as conflict zones on overhead power lines passing through forest areas pose a serious risk to the security of electricity supply to customers in the affected areas. They also pose a threat of fire occurrence when trees and branches come into contact with overhead lines.
