Consecutive fraud attempts by unknown persons posing as ENERGO-PRO employees
Alerts about another fraud attempt were received in the ENERGO-PRO Call Center. Unknown persons pose as employees of the electricity company and deceive people into providing their personal data or money for various services, citizens alert. In recent months, such signals have been coming to the company almost every week, and scammers are becoming more and more inventive.
Fortunately, in most cases these attempts are unsuccessful, because citizens call the ENERGO-PRO call center and understand that an attempt has been made to deceive them. The schemes are different, but boil down to several main types — a call from a hidden number, in which unknown persons pose as ENERGO-PRO employees and convince people to pay their electricity bill in cash at the address or provide personal data. The other approach used is to explain to the company's customers that they need to visit a Customer Service Center, inventing various reasons - a problem with the lot, with the electricity meter, to sign a contract, to submit an application, etc. During this time, they call the family member left alone at home and, according to the now familiar scheme of telephone fraud, say that his loved one was injured in an accident. A certain amount of money is required for treatment, or for “settling things”. Victims of this scheme become mostly elderly people.
To protect its customers, ENERGO-PRO reminds that the customer phone number is 0700 1 61 61. When calling from the company, this number is displayed on the display of the device. Thus, the customer can be reassured that the call is from ENERGO-PRO. Employees of the company who visit an address are dressed in work clothes, on which there is a company logo and are identified with service cards.
Once again, we would like to point out that ENERGO-PRO does not send employees to the homes of its customers to collect amounts due for consumed electricity or additional services. Electricity bills in cash are paid only at the cash desks of ENERGO-PRO, Bulgarian Post, Information Service or EasyPay. After making the payment, it is registered in the company's system and the client is necessarily issued the corresponding payment document. The additional services that ENERGO-PRO offers can only be paid for in the Customer Service Centers.
Calls in which unknown persons impersonate ENERGO-PRO employees and ask for people's personal data or money are attempted fraud. We advise our clients not to give any personal information or money to strangers and if they receive unexpected calls or have doubts about the legitimacy of employees visiting their address, call 0700 1 61 61 and report to law enforcement.
