EP North's advice on expected bad weather over the weekend
In connection with an expected adverse change in the weather situation in the country over the weekend, the EPP North reminds of vigilance regarding power related activities. First of all, attention is paid to the cautious use of electrical appliances in case of possible interruptions in the power supply. It is important to disconnect those of them whose use is not urgent, so that possible network interference does not affect their operation. In the open air, passing near overhead power lines in strong winds or under ice-heavy power lines should be avoided in order to prevent accidents in case the natural elements disturb their integrity. The recommendation of forecasters is, if possible, not to take trips during this period. Switching off of power lines is done centrally by the dispatching department in the respective region, also when securing the work of the teams on duty in eliminating any damage to the facilities. Recall that the safe distance at which there is no danger of falling under voltage on 20 kV power lines is a minimum of 8 meters.
Here are some more specific advice from the EPP North in case of an expected deterioration of the weather situation - violent winds, blizzards, snowfalls, which can cause accidents on power facilities and power outages
In advance
- Charge your mobile devices whenever possible
- Avoid including powerful electricity consumers if it is not urgent
- Provide a backup source for cooking/heating food — a stand-alone gas stove that is not connected to a central gas system for use in case of unavoidable accident on the network due to force majeure circumstances
- In case you are outdoors, look for a safe place away from trees and overhead power lines
- Do not resort to repair electrical appliances or work on the electrical installation in your home until the situation calms down.
In the event of a power outage due to deteriorated climatic conditions
- Contact ERP North on 0700 161 61 and 0700 359 10, as well as the additional emergency line 0897 00 66 01
- Keep the refrigerator and freezer closed
- Use limited battery-powered equipment
- Turn off electrical appliances or lower the center fuse to protect against electric shocks
ERP North assures that in case of critical weather situations related to power outages, the company's on-call teams are mobilized in places in order to restore the power supply to customers in a timely manner.
