Phone scammers pretend to be employees of ENERGO-PRO

A new type of telephone fraud was attempted by unknown persons in Varna. At the beginning of the week, a fraudster called the home phones of people living in an apartment block in Varna's Levski district. He introduced himself as being from ENERGO-PRO and said he would “collect the money for electricity on the spot.”

A man living in the block notified ENERGO-PRO about the unusual calls he and his neighbors received on the same day. Employees of a company explained that in ENERGO-PRO there is no practice of collecting electricity bills “on the spot”. The company sought assistance from the Ministry of Interior — Varna. Representatives of ENERGO-PRO and of the Second Russian Federation “Police” carried out an address check on the signal of attempted fraud. Fortunately, the people in the block did not fall into the trap.

We inform our customers that in ENERGO-PRO there has never been a practice for electricity bills to be collected at addresses. We draw attention that such “proposals” are an attempt at deception. We advise our clients, if they receive an offer to “pay their bill on the spot”, to immediately call ENERGO-PRO 0700 161 61 or to contact the police authorities.
