The tradition of visiting students in the High Voltage Laboratory of ENERGO-PRO continues this year
This week a group of students from Technical University Varna visited the High Voltage Laboratory of ENERGO-PRO Networks in the seaside town. Such visits have already become a tradition, and visits are organized regularly. Within an hour, students got acquainted with the operation of the equipment, which allows carrying out complex tests of various elements used in the construction and construction of electrical networks.
ENERGO-PRO's high-voltage laboratory is the only one in Bulgaria that is licensed by the Bulgarian Accreditation Service Executive Agency and holds a comprehensive certificate for high-voltage tests. It carries out tests of power cables, insulators, circuit breakers, specialized and personal protective equipment — dielectric boots, gloves, insulating rods, voltage indicators and others. The tour of the students, some of whom have already started their careers in the field of energy, turned into a lively discussion with the head of the High Voltage Laboratory, Eng. Georgi Garibov. Students received expert answers to their questions and witnessed several impressive demonstrations of various trials carried out in the laboratory. The culmination of the visit was the presentation of a volt arc and a breakthrough of insulators, which sparked further discussion.
An interesting fact from the history of the High Voltage Laboratory is its location. It is located in the building of the first diesel power plant in Varna, which started the electrification of the city with its construction in 1912. In 1990 the laboratory equipment was installed in the building. During its nearly 30 years of existence, the High Voltage Laboratory has been a center for conducting thousands of tests and trials.
