The manager of ENERGO-PRO presented to the Municipal Council of Shumen the problem of the accumulated debt of the Shumen water supply
Today, July 31, 2014, the manager of ENERGO-PRO Stefan Abadzhiev presented to the Shumen Municipal Council information about the alarming state of the accumulated electricity obligations of the Shumen Water Supply System. He told municipal councillors that the problem was worrying and despite the efforts made by the water company to pay the installments under the agreement to reschedule the old debt and current liabilities, the total debt continued not to decrease significantly. As of 31.07.2014, it amounted to over 860 thousand leva.
The problem of the obligations of the water supply company was discussed last week and at a meeting of the governors of the two companies with the mayors of municipalities in the Shumen region, which was hosted by the regional governor.
The occasion for the meeting initiated today with the Municipal Council, which took place with the assistance of the Ombudsman of Shumen Ivan Kapralov, was the need to inform all interested and responsible institutions for the management of Shumen water supply about the problem, which is of public importance and affects all residents of the Municipality.
The municipal councilors expressed their readiness to assist in resolving the issue of accumulated liabilities, saying that they will get acquainted with the financial situation of the water company and the current state of the debt for electricity, after which they will initiate meetings with the managers of the two companies to discuss the options for dealing with the problem.
“We hope to meet the support of the responsible institutions and the entire public in the field and find a way out of the unpleasant situation for everyone in the shortest possible time. Unfortunately, until now, despite the obvious efforts of the management of Shumen Water Supply Company to solve the problem, the debt has not decreased significantly, and this trend is worrying. ENERGO-PRO cannot assume debts of clients of such magnitude that threaten the financial stability of the company. We are making great efforts to save inconvenience to people in the area, but at the same time we cannot risk the stability of electricity supply in North-East Bulgaria, “said the manager of the electricity company.
