The manager of the regional center Varna in ERP North took part as a jury in the high school competition “Energy and us”

On March 24, on the territory of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Technical University - Varna, the forum “Energy and Us” was held. The event was organized by the University, Varna Municipality and the Regional Department of Education - Varna. Eng. Hristo Rahnev, manager of distribution service center Varna in ERP North, was invited to join the jury, which evaluated the participants' works. More than 80 students from grades 9 to 12, who successfully passed preliminary selection, participated in the final of the seventh edition of the national high school competition “Energy and Us”, and this year the theme was “Green Energy - Problems and Prospects”.

The participants, accompanied by their teachers-team leaders, directors and pedagogical specialists, had the opportunity to present innovative models and developments that were distinguished by creativity, social significance and applicability.

The event was opened by Assoc. Prof. Julian Rangelov, Head of the Department of Electrical Power Engineering at TU-Varna. This was followed by a presentation of the participants in sections — two for models and two for presentations of developments. Students could choose how to present their thesis within 10 minutes, supported by a presentation and mock-up, report, film or educational module. Student developments included extremely diverse ideas on topics: E-fitness, Automatic switching on of backup power line, Garden irrigation system management, Solar-thermal tower, School of the future, Electric turbocharger, Smart building, Air-conditioning split system, etc.

In four different sections, winners were broadcast, and partner companies also had the opportunity to distinguish participants at their discretion and reward them with attractive prizes. Eng. Rahnev presented special gifts to all 14 twelfth graders who took part in the forum. They also received a special certificate recognized for admission to TU-Varna in the engineering specialties of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University for the next academic year 2023/2024.
