In the past week, the electricity distribution network of ERP North, supplying electricity to the village of Nikolovo in Ruse, became the object of vandalism. The malicious acts caused several shutdowns on the Nikolovo overhead power line. Employees of the electricity distribution company conducted a survey and inspection of the facilities. Traces of shooting at a pole from the power line were found - broken insulators and multiple holes in the concrete trunk of the facility.

Similar acts of vandalism in the same area were also established in October 2018, when, again, after shooting at a pillar owned by ERP North, all elements of the facility's chains were broken. As a consequence, the residents of Nikolovo were deprived of electricity for several hours. After the immediate replacement of the damaged elements of the pillar on the same day, the electricity supply in the village was restored.

For these encroachments on the electricity distribution facilities in the village of Nikolovo, ERP North filed complaints with the prosecutor's office. In the past, the company has publicized other similar acts of bad faith in this area of Ruse, including theft of elements of the electricity distribution network, as a result of which the company suffers damage and the conscientious residents of the settlement suffer the inconvenience of power outages.

The settlements located close to the city of Ruse are one of the fastest growing in the region. For this reason, ERP North is investing in upgrading and increasing the capacity of service facilities in the area to ensure quality electricity supply. As a measure in this direction, at the end of 2018, the company built a node station Iztok worth BGN 400,000, supplying power to Nikolovo, Sandrovo, Marten, Slivo Pole and part of the industrial zone of the city.
