The obligations of Water Works Dobrich to ENERGO-PRO were discussed at meetings between the management of the two companies and representatives of state institutions

The Manager of ENERGO-PRO Varna, Mr. Stefan Abadzhiev, met with the newly appointed Manager of Water Supply System Dobrich, Mr. Julian Ivanov, on the occasion of the increasing debt for electricity of the water supply company in the summer months.

At present, Dobrich Water Works owes BGN 2.2 million to ENERGO-PRO, of which 1 million are overdue debts.

During the meeting, the issues of cyclical occurrence of the obligations of the water utility company in the summer months of intensive consumption of water resources were discussed, as well as the risk that the increasing debt of the water supply company creates for the financial situation of ENERGO-PRO. Mr. Ivan Kolev, Deputy Mayor “Finance and Municipal Property” of the Municipality of Dobrich, was also informed about the situation.

Workshops were also held between the Manager of ENERGO-PRO, Mr. Stefan Abadzhiev, with the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Regional Development (MoR), Mr. Dobromir Simidchiev and the Regional Governor of Dobrich Region, Mr. Nedko Marchev, on the occasion of the increased debt of the water supply company. Various options for cooperation and action between the structures of local and state government, ENERGO-PRO and water supply system Dobrich in order to reduce the debt were considered.

“We are considering all possibilities to avoid the extreme measures of debt collection provided for in the law, so as not to create inconvenience to the residents of the district. With the Deputy Minister of Public Works, the Regional Governor and the Deputy Mayor of the City of Dobrich, we share the common opinion that there should be no exclusion of objects of the water supply company that would disrupt the water supply”, said Mr. Abadzhiev.

“There are a number of objective circumstances for the formation of obligations from the Dobrich water supply system, which have been known for years. Experience in recent years shows that the development of these circumstances can lead to a negative discharge. Therefore, we agreed that with the structures of state and local government we will be in constant contact and will keep under strict control the situation with the debt of the water supply company. We are all interested in ensuring quality service to people and we must use all resources to avoid the extreme measures provided for in the law, which would create inconvenience for them.”, added Mr. Abadjiev.

Today, August 9, 2013, a meeting was held again between the managers of ENERGO-PRO and the management of the Water Works Dobrich, at which a specific plan for the rescheduling of the debt was discussed, which includes a schedule for the repayment of the old obligations, while simultaneously covering the current ones.

“We believe that with the interest of the new management of Plumbing Dobrich and the cooperation of the institutions, we will find an acceptable solution to the problem of the increasing debt of the water supply company. This is primarily in the interest of the people who are clients of both companies,” said Mr. Abadzhiev.
