Repair of high voltage power lines supplying the area north of Varna begins
Repair of three high-voltage overhead power lines supplying part of the city of Varna and the area north of the city began on November 6, 2013. The facilities are owned by the National Electric Company (NEC). During the renovation, in the period from 6 to 16.11.2013, the Electricity System Operator (ESO) will shut down overhead power lines (HEVs) “Sirena”, “Lebed” and “Briz”.
Electricity is supplied to the substation “Trakata”, owned by ENERGO-PRO Grids, under the power plant “Sirena”. While the power line is disconnected, the Trakata substation will be powered by a backup scheme on medium-voltage lines.
During the reconstruction, ESO requires the disconnection of individual sections of the power distribution network of ENERGO-PRO Grids in order to ensure safe operation. This means that on separate days between November 6th and 16th, various areas of the city, adjacent localities, resort complexes and nearby settlements will be without power supply. The exact schedule of interruptions is announced on the website of ENERGO-PRO Networks and in the regional press.
Due to the repair work, temporary power outages are possible in the territory of the municipalities of Balchik, Kavarna, Shabla and General Toshevo in Dobrich region.
During this period, it is possible for ENERGO-PRO Grids to receive an order from the ESO to limit the production of electricity from renewable sources (RES) in the area, due to the shutdown of the power line “Sirena”, through which the generated electricity from the RES is transferred.
ENERGO-PRO Grids apologizes to its customers for the inconvenience that will create the repair work on the network of the National Electric Company and hopes for understanding. The reconstruction in the NEC network will increase the reliability and security of the electricity system and the stability of the power supply to all electricity consumers.
