Due to the increased number of COVID-19 cases, the managers of ENERGO-PRO held meetings with the local government online

The management of ENERGO-PRO met with representatives of the local authorities in Varna, Dobrich and Gorna Oryahovitsa. Part of the meetings were held online in order not to create unnecessary risks in the conditions of an increased number of cases of coronavirus carriers in the country. The Management Board of the company — Angel Angelov, Angela Toneva and Georgi Korshiya — gave the representatives of the local government the opportunity to get acquainted with current projects and innovations in the energy sector and to raise important issues of energy nature for the infrastructure and business in the respective municipality.
During the meetings, the forthcoming liberalization of the energy market was explained in detail, and specific cases were discussed regarding the legally established change concerning small businesses. With the latest amendments to the Law on Energy, published in the State Gazette No. 57 of 26.06.2020, from October 1, 2020, it is envisaged that all non-domestic customers, including those whose objects are connected to the electricity distribution network at a low voltage level (about 300 thousand units on the territory of the whole country with a total annual consumption of 4,5 ≈ TWh.), will purchase electricity energy for their needs at freely negotiated prices. The main requirements for participation in the market are: the client should not have arrears to his previous supplier; be the holder of the lot; provide a list of all objects.
In the discussions between ENERGO-PRO and the local government, the topic of the new electricity prices on the regulated market from 01.07.2020, approved by the EWRC, was touched upon, including the process of updating the data of non-domestic users on the power provided to them, and for reference with more information was referred to the website of ERP North. The topic of household liberalisation in the coming years was also commented on, stressing that this is an upcoming process, which is part of the European initiative to build a fully liberalised integrated intra-Community electricity market.
The management of ENERGO-PRO takes the opportunity to acquaint the local government with the progress of the implementation of the investment and repair programs of ERP North for 2020 and the current energy facilities at the local level in order to increase the quality of the electricity supply service. Projects are being implemented at an accelerated pace to make up for delays during the state of emergency, when planned power outages were discontinued to support businesses and households.
The meetings ended with a bilateral commitment to open dialogue and future active cooperation on energy issues.
