The investment will improve the security and reliability of the power supply in the Western Industrial Zone, Vladislavovo, and Kaysieva Gradina districts in Varna, and will enhance the capacity to connect new customers.

ERP Sever has commissioned a new 50 MVA power transformer at the Maksuda substation in Varna. With the completion of this project, the substation's total installed transformer capacity increases from 75 MVA to 125 MVA, representing a growth of nearly 67%.

The expansion also includes the construction of a new 110 kV bay, a connection to the 20 kV indoor switchgear, and a new 20 kV metal-enclosed switchgear.

The new facilities were officially commissioned on October 29, 2026. The investment, valued at over 1.5 million euros, is part of the power distribution company's investment program. It is aimed at increasing the security of the power supply and ensuring the necessary capacity to meet the growing electricity demand in the area, while also creating opportunities for connecting new customers.

The expansion will primarily benefit customers in the Western Industrial Zone (ZPS), as well as the Vladislavovo and Kaysieva Gradina districts. The increased transformer capacity will provide better load management capabilities and more reliable operation of the power infrastructure.

An important result of the project is the creation of conditions to meet the N-1 criterion. This is a key indicator of power supply security, meaning that if one facility in the power system fails, the system must be able to continue functioning without interrupting the power supply to customers.

With the new transformer and the construction of the new switchgear, the Maksuda substation now has three power transformers with a total capacity of 125 MVA. The completion of this project is another step in ERP Sever's ongoing efforts to modernize the power distribution infrastructure and improve the quality and security of the power supply in the company's service areas.
